Selena Anguiano’s career started with formal classical ballet training at age 3. A ballet, tap and modern dance student for 12 years, Selena transitioned to theatre at age 15 with leading roles in award winning high-school productions, with local professional companies, and a high school internship with the Dallas Theater Center.
She is privileged to have been involved in some of the most compelling and exciting productions and programs across the US and globally, from the Dallas Children’s Theatre to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC; Dancing Classrooms NYC and London’s London Bubble Theatre Company to the Cultural Offices of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Al Qasimi of Sharjah, UAE under the auspices of The Little Art in Lahore, Pakistan. Her work over eight years in Washington, DC resulted in collaborations with no less than 15 local arts organizations, including three that she helped found. During this time Selena enjoyed working with several distinguished American political and government officials, and various notable performing arts and film artists.
Selena is published in cultural arts management journals and books in the Czech Republic. Summer 2011-2015 Selena managed a conservatory-style training program for middle and high schoolers on the East and West Coasts. She successfully built and managed two programs upon returning to Dallas: a Lyric Theater and Opera Vocal Masterclass involving a seasoned Music Recording Artist, and a symposium for deserving, but financially needy Hispanic high school females while serving as Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations for the University of Dallas.
Selena’s more recent collaborations and achievements include management work with Shakespeare Dallas and Undermain Theatre; producing for the Orchestra of New Spain, fundraising for the Dallas Institute of Humanities and Culture and directing for House Party Theatre. Selena’s consulting work includes fundraising strategies for the Faculty of Arts, Charles University, Prague Czech Republic; major event strategies for New Texas Symphony Orchestra; and successful 501(c) 3 nonprofit formation, filing and advising for the Luther Center of North Texas, Prague Philharmonia in the Czech Republic, the National Hispanic Financial Coalition and Metamorphosis: A New Living Theatre. Selena currently serves as Grants Manager for the Dallas Museum of Art. She is a Founding Board Member of Metamorphosis: A New Living Theatre, in Dallas, an Inaugural Member of the Southern Methodist University Creative Coding Advisory Board (http://accelerator.smu.edu/selena-anguiano.html); working on at-risk youth arts programming with British conductor and solo violinist Peter Manning, and her art work is part of the DMA's After Hours: Works By DMA Staff, June 15-November 26, 2017. She has pending projects with the Orchestra of New Spain, Ohana Arts, and an international opera company (TBD) through 2020.
