Selena Anguiano’s career started with formal classical ballet training at age 3. A ballet, tap and modern dance student for 12 years, Selena transitioned to theatre at age 15 with a high school internship with the Dallas Theater Center, leading roles in award winning high-school productions, and productions with Planned Parenthood's Teen Age Communications Theatre (TACT), and Young Playwrights' Theater.
Selena is privileged to have been involved in some of the most compelling and exciting productions and programs involving youth and the arts across the US and globally including: The Dallas Children’s Theater; The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts; Dancing Classrooms NYC; England’s London Bubble Children’s Theatre Company; and concurrently, the Cultural Offices of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Al Qasimi of Sharjah, UAE, and iMan Management Firm in Dubai, UAE both under the auspices of The Little Art in Lahore, Pakistan. Her work over eight years in Washington, DC resulted in collaborations with no less than 15 tri-state (DC/MD/VA) arts organizations, including three that she helped found, and for which she achieved nonprofit status. During this time Selena enjoyed working with distinguished American and foreign political and government officials, and various notable performing arts and media artists.
Selena is published in cultural arts management journals and books in the Czech Republic. Between 2004 and 2015, she created, directed and managed Performing Arts programming for youth on the East and West Coasts through two exemplary youth cultural and arts organizations. Among recent accomplishments, she built and managed two programs in Dallas, TX: a Lyric Theater and Opera Vocal Masterclass involving a seasoned Music Recording Artist, and a symposium for deserving and academically, but financially needy Hispanic high school females. She has produced opera for a leading classical music organization in Texas for three years running, and over the course of her career, she has lead efforts to successfully form more than 10 arts and cultural non-profit organizations across the United States and internationally.
Selena’s more recent collaborations include work with Shakespeare Dallas; Undermain Theatre; Orchestra of New Spain; Dallas Institute of Humanities and Culture; and House Party Theatre. Recent consulting includes strategies for the Faculty of Arts, Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic; New Texas Symphony Orchestra; the Luther Center of North Texas, Prague Philharmonia in the Czech Republic, the National Hispanic Financial Coalition and Metamorphosis: A New Living Theatre. Selena is also an accomplished actress, with credits including theatre and film roles; and her art work was part of the Dallas Museum of Art's 2017 After Hours: Works By DMA Staff Exhibit
Selena currently serves as Grants Manager for the Dallas Museum of Art. She is an Inaugural Member of the Southern Methodist University Creative Coding Advisory Board; an Ambassador for the Metropolitan Opera's Live in HD Transmission series; working on at-risk youth arts, and related operatic and classical music programming with British conductor Peter Manning; and a member of the Cara Mia Theatre Company's Special Events Committee. Selena also has pending producing projects with organizations in the Caribbean, Ireland, Hawaii and China.
Selena received her education at the University of Dallas, the University of Southern Mississippi and City University, London, England.
